What is Meal Planning? From the 1950s throughout the 1970s, housewives used to sit down once a month or weekly and make a food list for the next month or week. From the meal plan they made, they would create their shopping list. Parents would then glance through the “weeklies” or the advertising portion of the newspaper, cut their coupons, and go forth on their grocery shopping expedition. In this manner, families could spend less time and expense throughout the week or month.
