I’m one of those at home chefs that have excellent at making the premade recipes but there are a couple of dishes enjoy making from scratch and most of them include my fav food , CHEESE! The Recipe that you’re cooking
Firstly , looking at the recipe will give you a hint about what skills are going to be used to grate the cheese in the correct manner. Are you making pasta ? Maybe it’s something else? Or maybe just cheese on toast. Some recipes are going to need different cheese and different types of cheese, which leads me to my next tip.
The Type of Cheese
A lot of cheeses grate very easily and others just doesn’t grate at all. Harder, firmer types of cheese generally grate really well, while milky cheeses are usually best to be broken up . Mozzarella is always broken up over the pizzas, where parmesan is usually always grated finely over hot dishes . Most Cooks finely slice parmesan as well as turn it into a fine powder.
The Type of Grater
Most people use a normal hand grater at home but this isn’t always the brightest option. Rotary Cheese Graters are pretty good choice, as are Drum Cheese Graters. Most people would normally use these two makes of grater if you are cooking for the masses and using firm cheeses that you would buy at the deli . Parmesan needs it’s own make of grater which is much finer than most graters.
