Many people find it astonishing as to how vegetarians are able to adapt an entirely different lifestyle. Of course, there is no single answer to this question since vegetarians choose to make this switch for quite a number of reasons.
Most vegetarians claim that people make the switch for at least one out of three reasons.
Their first claim is that eating meat can give birth to quite a number of ethical problems. For example, some find it inhumane that chickens need to be debeaked, are kept in small cages during their lifetime, and are sometimes killed if they don’t produce eggs right away.
Most vegetarians also disagree with the practice of keeping these animals in crowded and stressful living environments. Sometimes, these animals are even fed hormone-laden feeds just to make them grow faster and produce more.
People who make the switch to vegetarianism for this reason draw such ethical boundaries depending on their beliefs. For example, some strict vegans won’t even eat yeast, wear wool, or eat vegetables that require killing the plant source during harvest.
On the other hand, some vegans are more lenient about their diet. These pseudo-vegans find no problem in eating fish and chicken on a regular basis.
The second reason that vegans claim for ditching meat altogether is the fact that it simply conflicts with their dietary preferences. Believe it or not, there are just some people who simply do not appreciate the taste of meat. Then again, there are those who stay away from meat due to various health concerns. People suffering from high cholesterol tend to eliminate meat from their daily food intake.
The third reason that vegans cite is the fact that eating meat can harm the environment. Their main argument is that the consumption of meat causes farmers to continually deforest land in order to create grazing land for cattle.
In reality, these are just a few reasons why most vegans have chosen to live meat-free. Aside from the ones enumerated above, there are a lot of other sensible reasons why people make the switch to vegetarianism.
